If you are like me then you probably love spending time in the kitchen, laboring over chopping various vegetables, or reading up online on how to achieve the perfect crisp. Spending time in the kitchen is so therapeutic. Especially on a cold January weekend! Because who doesn’t like some quality time together with the family over delicious Sunday dinner recipes.
I usually go for bread recipes but in this post, I’ve included my favorite Sunday dinner recipes to make for the coziest weekend.
1. Creamy Lavender & Thyme Risotto
I love this delicious Sunday dinner recipe and it is one of my favorites to make for my family. The labor of love that the risotto requires is so comforting.
Although this herb and mushroom risotto is so flavored and dense and requires attention, the recipe is pretty straightforward. It is a great comfort food recipe for icy cold Sundays.
The tender slow-cooked leg of lamb seasoned with dry thyme and lavender complement the mushrooms and dry white wine taste of the risotto. Bonus points if you prepare the risotto with homemade chicken or vegetable broth.
2. Pork Chops with Tangy Plum Glaze
These Pork Chops cooked in plum sauce are so perfect for the weekend because it is elegant and makes it a whole experience for the senses. Your kitchen will smell like plums and this comforting recipe pairs perfectly with red wine for even courier vibes in the kitchen.
3. Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes
Okay, I know this is not technically a recipe but it is a great breakfast recipe that takes so long it might as well be a Sunday dinner recipe.
This recipe is so fun to make! Do yourself and favor and prepare for it during the week. These Japanese pancakes are fluffy, dense, and so delicious.
They do take a bit longer to make than regular pancakes so make sure you had your coffee first. I love this recipe because it is easy and always a hit.
4. Fresh Herbs Focaccia Bread
We’ve all seen the cooking shows where an Italian grandmother shows the host how to make bread. It is not any type of bread – it is almost always a focaccia bread. This is how you know this is one of the ultimate Sunday dinner recipes!
5. Barbacoa Style Beef Tacos
Barbacoa refers to the Mexican traditional method of cooking meat. It is done in a pit dug in the ground where the meat is cooked over a fire and covered with maguey leaves. I have heard the traditional route is lamb but I made it with beef.
I really hope I get to taste the beef cooked the traditional way but until then I can use my slow cooker. The meat comes out tender, juicy, and delicious. Try this delicious beef taco recipe. It is one of my favorite Sunday dinner recipes.
6. Spicy Cajun Sausage & Cabbage Skillet
I love southern cuisine and every single flavor it comes with it. This delicious Sunday dinner is filled with the best flavors.
Although this is not as complicated and much faster to make recipe, this Spicy Cajun Sausage & Cabbage Skillet still holds that comfort food level of spice, and your kitchen will smell amazing.
7. Honey Butter Parker Rolls
It won’t be a comfort food recipes list if I don’t mention the good ol’ dinner roll! I enjoy knitting bread a lot especially when I am closed inside because of bad weather.
This Sunday dinner recipe is easy to follow and it will require your love and devotion or the magic just won’t happen.
